- Alvin Peterson Hovey. 6 Sept. 1821 - 23 Nov. 1891 Alvin P. Hovey was born near Mount Vernon, Posey County, Indiana. He fought in the Mexican War and the Civil War and was a delegate to Indiana's 1850 Constitutional Convention.
