Into this I put my TV-85, a Tele Vue Maxbright diagonal, and a Coronado MaxScope 40. To minimize weight I limited myself to three eyepieces, these being the Coronado Cemax 25 and 12 mm, and a Tele Vue Panoptic 19. I reasoned that the Cemax are relatively wide field eyepieces, and preferable for hydrogen-alpha viewing.

Page 1 of 3 - Televue 76 (or 85) for starter scope!? - posted in Beginners Forum (No astrophotography): Hi. Ive been doing my research for a suitable first telescope and, of course, an 8 dob is the smart move, yet, somehow, Ive convinced myself a TeleVue 76 (or 85) would be the bees knees! Im not sure if this is brilliant of me or the makings of a costly mistake. Thus, Im …

The TeleVue-85 is a doublet of 600mm focal length. The objective lens coatings make the optics appear nearly invisible when viewed from the front. The inside of the tube is covered in a black matte material to suppress glare. I use the TeleVue-85 with my TeleVue Tele-Pod alt-azimuth mount.

The combination of Tele Vue-85 APO refractor and Tele Vue 0.8x Reducer/Flattener (TRF-2008) create a potent, highly portable, flat/wide-field (480mm @ f/5.6) astro-imaging system. The following gallery of Southern Hemisphere nebulae, by Vesselin Petkov, is a great example of the exquisite results possible with the Tele Vue-85.
