Scanning images at 600 DPI, 800 DPI, or even 1000 DPI is not unheard of, especially in the world of fine art and scientific imaging. Photos adapted for use on the web will usually have a 72 DPI, optimized for speedy, on-page consumption. Ideally, the image has already been loaded before the user scrolls down to see it.

All About Digital Photos - What is DPI?

    http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/whatisdpi.html
DPI stands for Dots Per Inch which technically means printer dots per inch. Today it is a term often misused, usually to mean PPI, which stands for Pixels Per Inch. So when someone says they want a photo that is 300 dpi they really mean that they want 300 ppi. PPI is simple arithmetic, it is the digital photo's pixels dimensions divided into the paper size to be printed.

Images or photographs play a vital role in the real estate business. For a real estate deal need to be successful, properly angled photos find its importance. DPI only refers to the printer. Every pixel output is made up of different coloured inks (usually 4-6 colours, although many printers use more now). Because of the small number of colours, the printer needs to be able to mix these inks to make up all the colours of the image.

Understanding Digital Image Resolution - Digital Photo

If the long dimension of an image file is 3,000 pixels, at 300 dpi your image will measure 10 inches in length. At just 100 dpi it will measure 30 inches in length; a lot bigger, yes, but with less detail than at 300 dpi. Interestingly, you can compare the difference between an 8×10 print and a huge billboard for more clarity on the concept.

72 dpi (this tends to be the default resolution for images displayed on the Web. Some older scanners also would scan the images and save them at 72 dpi as a default. Don’t be fooled by the small number of 72 dpi look at the pixel dimensions also)

DPI vs PPI - What is the Difference? - Photography Life

    https://photographylife.com/dpi-vs-ppi
What is DPI? DPI stands for dots per inch and refers to the resolution of a printer. It describes the density of ink dots placed on a sheet of paper (or another photographic medium) by a printer to create a physical print. DPI has nothing to do with anything displayed digitally! And this is where a lot of the confusion occurs. More on DPI in a bit.
