    HMS Coreopsis was an Anchusa-class sloop and Q-ship of the Royal Navy, built at the yards of Barclay Curle and launched on 15 September 1917. She was credited with the sinking of UB-85 in the Irish Sea in 1918. After World War I she was laid up before being sold for breaking on 6 September 1922.

    The photo could well be of the sloop Coreopsis -- certainly looks about the right size. And the Royal Navy did indeed change the name of minor vessels like drifters by adding a II when something more substantial was built like a sloop or destroyer (most WWI destroyers actually displaced a little less than sloops.)

    This photo, taken in May 1952, shows Coreopsis passing an unidentified RN Hunt Class destroyer during filming and this may have been the occasion when the passing warship flashed the signal "What Ship" to the corvette. The signal which came back read "HMS Compass Rose Sailing The Cruel Sea"
