The way photographers indicate how open or closed the aperture is is with an f-number. Examples might be f/3.5, f/5.6, f/9, or f/11. You may notice I write these all as "eff over" something. The "over" is often left out of speech (one might just say "eff five point six"), but it is quite relevant.

F stop Chart (Aperture Stop Chart) Explained

    https://www.photographyaxis.com/photography-articles/f-stop-chart/
The term “F stop” can be really confusing if you are a beginner in photography. A smaller f-number corresponds to a larger aperture opening and a larger f-number corresponds to a smaller opening. You can see in the f stop chart that the opening is really big for an aperture value of f2.8 when compared to f11.

Photography F-Stop Chart: Understanding F-Stops - Shotkit

    https://shotkit.com/f-stop-chart/
F-stops (also referred to as f-numbers) refer to how open or closed the opening in your lens is. The wider the aperture – the opening in the lens – the smaller the f-number. For example, in the chart above f/1.4 is quite wide open (a ‘wide’ aperture), while f/16 is little more than a pinhole (a ‘narrow’ aperture).

What is F-Stop, How it Works and How to Use it in …

    https://photographylife.com/f-stop
To recap: F-stop (aka f-number) is the number that you see on your camera or lens as you adjust the size of your aperture. Since f-stops are fractions, an aperture of f/2 is much larger than an aperture of f/16. Just like the pupil in your eye, a large aperture lets in a lot of light.

I think some of the readers need to remember that the Sunny16 rule is for calculating the exposure but you don't have to actually use f16 as your taking aperture. Remember reciprocal exposures. 1/100@f16 = 1/200@f11 = 1/400@f8. you get the idea. I use it all the time and never shoot at f16
