If you’re using a DSLR, we recommend using a telescope with a focal length of around 300-500mm. This is a short enough focal length that all of the Andromeda Galaxy will fit easily in the field of view. A great beginner telescope for photographing the Andromeda Galaxy is the Apertura 60EDR with its dedicated field flattener.

Few samples of Andromeda with pure DSLR/Tripod setup would be highly appreciated. This was taken from a Bortle 8, downtown backyard, using just a 18-55 kit zoom lens. It is a stack, but stacking is extremely easy..also visible is M33 the Triangulum Galaxy. THIS is using a tracker and a 420mm "lens", my little 65mm APO

I have been into photography for many years now. Mostly landscapes, and very recently working on astrophotography, with few MW shoots. Interests me to get into astrophotography more. Have a good DSLR (Canon 5DII and good lenses) and before I invest in telescopes, mounts etc, curious to see how much can I push my existing setup.

You aren't going to be at all concerned about the bokeh of a reflex lens for astrophotography. The 500mm lens will give you a field of view of 4° (240') x 2°45' (165'). With this, the Andromeda galaxy should fill the frame. Exposure is going to be the problem. The photograph described at M31 describes 100 minutes of total exposure to capture it.
