Make sure to wash yourself and your clothes and get there about 1 1/2 hours before their up and about. You should be able to pick them up with a long enough lens.

    If the animal is moving, choose Shutter Priority. If the animal is non moving, as in your family pet sleeping or a bird perched in a tree, I recommend setting your camera to Aperture Priority. Aperture Priority is also my preference for photographing animals at the zoo. Rarely are zoo animals moving around quickly.
