    Deliberately overexposing with film is nothing new. Wedding photographers did that all the time to favor shadow detail. Jose Villa does it partly to achieve his 'look'. Film can actually take a lot of overexposure. You wouldn't want to do it intentionally, but film that has been overexposed 3 stops can still be printed, and detail will still be there.
