Review: Mamiya 645 Pro TL - FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

    https://jamesmadisonphotography.com/2019/03/17/review-mamiya-645-pro-tl/
Ultimately, I decided to go with the Mamiya 645 Pro TL. The lenses are (relatively) inexpensive and are quite incredible. As of March 2019, my lens collection included a 55 f/2.8, 80 f/2.8 N, and a 150 f/3.5 N. ... A lot of my photography is born out of spontaneity and without spending time to set up every shot, missing the exposure happens and ...

Mamiya 645 Pro TL Medium Format - PhotographyReview

While the 645e is a great camera, the Pro TL leaves it in the dust. My gear is setup with a 645 Pro TL, 220/120 back, 35mm Pano back, Power winder, and the metered viewfinder, and hte 80mm 2.8 lens. Focusing is extremely easy with the camera and it is built like a tank. It feels and works like a true pro camera should.

The Mamiya 645 addresses both of these problems by being much smaller than an RB67 and, since it’s an SLR, it’s better for close-up and faraway shooting, compared to a rangefinder. For these reasons, I managed to talk myself into investing in the system. Cacti. Like most medium format film cameras, the 645 Pro is a modular system camera.

Special features of the Mamiya 645 PRO TL: 1. Image Area about 3X larger than 35mm format. The 6X4.5cm image size is about 3x larger than 35mm and therefore produces far superior results. It is large enough to be viewed without magnifier and its aspect ratio of about 1.25 (long side : short side) matches the standard 8 x 10 inch “ideal format ...

The Pro TL is the last manual focus model Mamiya made for their 645 line so there is nothing old or retro about this camera. I recommend the AE prism finder and the larger winder unless you are really eager to go old school with a WLF and hand winding crank. That can be a lot of fun too and it makes the camera quite a bit smaller.

Granted, it's unlikely that would be important to any other Mamiya owner! But I would still go with the Pro TL if you can afford it simply because it will be a much newer camera. The reason I got rid of my 1000s, and the older 645 before it, was that both developed erratic frame spacing, an annoying problem with some older 120 cameras.

Mamiya 645 Pro Review: The Jump to Medium Format - Passion Passport

    https://passionpassport.com/mamiya-645-pro-review-medium-format/
The Mamiya 645 Pro became my first medium format camera a few months ago when I found a great deal on Facebook marketplace that included the 80mm/f2.8 and 150mm/f4 Mamiya/Sekor lenses. I’ve taken it on road trips to find that it fits nicely in a backpack, carried it around my neck on long walks through my Chicago neighborhood, and have shot ...
