The thing about large format is patience, lots and lots of patience. If your into fine art photos and don't mind spending a lot of time on one shot...go for it. Medium format dosen't take much longer than 35mm, for a fine shot, even when setting up a tripod, but you can easily double or triple your time with large format. And it is HEAVY!

Large format vs. medium format - large format photography

Because medium format cameras have a larger sensor, they also tend to be larger on the whole. As you might expect, this means that they tend to be heavier, though this can also change depending on your lens’s size. The larger sensor in a medium format doesn’t just mean that it has a larger body. That also means that the device takes in more light.

What are medium and large format film photography? As with digital, medium and large format photography use physically larger film formats than 35mm (full-frame). Because the size of the crystals that make up the photo-sensitive emulsion is the same regardless of film format, a larger negative will show more detail and less visible 'grain' and allow larger prints to …

These days, digital large format hasn’t really emerged as a viable option for nature photographers, but medium format manufacturers have been able to (marginally) stay in the game. If you have $30,000+ burning a hole in your pocket, then you can get a whopping 80 megapixels from the latest medium format cameras.
