- When sun is still up, shoot at iso 800 with shutter speed of like 1/1000 to get some really crisp photos. Even with decent lighting, I'll shoot at like iso 2000, f2.8 at 1/320 with flash on high speed sync. Some of the fields around here have really good lights and you can get by with iso 1200, but those are rare.

- Shutter priority would be a good setting if you don't want to use manual. Get up to '500 or faster if you can. At 1600, you can simulate a push in digital editing and have a nicer looking image than if you shot at 3200. Also, I would suggest switching out of evaluative metering mode and trying the center-weighted mode instead.
