Nightclub Photography FAQ: Lens for Nikon D5100

    https://nightclubphotography-faqs.blogspot.com/2013/02/lens-for-nikon-d5100.html
It's a Nikon D5100 with two lenses. The first one is the 18-55mm (kit edition) while the second one is the Nikon 55-200mm Lens. By the way, I have also bought a new flashgun (Nissin ND622MKII-N Speedlite). I'm planning to enter the world of nightlife photography. However I am not sure if those two lens I have are recommended or even satisfactory.

Nikon D5100 settings for night photography in the woods.

You will still have to experiment with exposure, but you should be able to get something useable. With a D5100, I would start with a 4f setting in aperture priority, an ISO no higher than 1600 and let the shutter speed go where in wants. Shutter speed will be slow so everyone will have to be real still during the shot.

The Nikon d5100 is not a full frame camera so it uses DX lenses (but it can use FX lenses too.) DX lenses are lenses made for the smaller sensor of the 5100. Basically only time you need to be careful is when you have a full frame, you want to make sure not to get DX lenses because the view area they give is too small to fully utilize the full frame sensor.

Nikon D5100 Review - Photography Life

    https://photographylife.com/reviews/nikon-d5100
Talking about the LCD screen, the new 3 inch LCD screen on the D5100 is simply gorgeous. In fact, it is even a little deceiving, because photographs on the LCD sometimes just look too good. The biggest advantage of a plastic camera body is weight – the D5100 is only 510 grams, making it the second lightest Nikon DSLR after the Nikon D3100. It is 50 grams lighter …

How to take a photo of night sky with stars using Nikon d5100?

Use a tripod. You probably already know this but in case you did not, use the tripod. 2. Set your ISO to "automatic". You don't want to use the lowest ISO setting here. You can change it later if you want to. 3. Get as far away from "light pollution" as you can. If your subject is the stars you want to have them and not light reflecting from ...

Shutter speeds that are likely to yield the best results: 1/15, 1/8, 1/4 second or longer—and you'll need VR or a tripod for those. For more advanced night shots, a tripod is necessary. Long exposure times—one, 10, even 30 seconds—combined with small apertures (for great depth-of-field) will produce dramatic light-trails and reveal details.
