Your settings are correct. You should have AF-C set in a situation like this. AF-A will do the job but the camera chooses AF-S or AF-C mode automatically and so has to decide if the subject is moving or not and can be a little slow to react. So yes set AF-C.

Switch to manual and shy away from the sport setting. Or go to aperture priority and set the camera for the widest aperture on the lens and adjust ISO until you get a "motion stopping" shutter speed. Use the 55-200 and set the camera on Shutter priority (S) then set the shutter speed at 1/500. Camera is better to be on Auto ISO or at least you have to set ISO at 800... 1600. This can work only if you do your work on quite good light... If the light is not very good, you need a f2.8 prime / zoom in order to have good results.

With 10 frames per second shooting for up to 200 shots (lossless compressed 14-bit Raw to XQD card), you can take as many photos as possible without blurring an image. You also get an ISO sensitivity of 100-51200, which you can alter as per your liking.

This is most useful in shooting indoor sports with low light set up. Just be careful though, because setting an ISO value too high may produce a grainy texture or “noise” on your shots. Adjusting ISO mode will be the last tool to use once you’ve optimized the shutter speed and aperture. ISO range differs in every camera.

How to shoot night shots on Nikon D5000?

    https://nikonmag.com/talk/dx/how-to-shoot-night-shots-on-nikon-d5000.html
One of them is setting your shutter speed to 3 to 5 seconds depending on how much light you have. Another is keeping your ISO at 200, and yet another is using your camera's self timer because even the camera motion created by you pushing the shutter release will cause blur. Here's an example of what I mean.
