Nikon D7000 for astrophotography: Review. Although my first astrophotos were taken with a DSLR I quickly steered clear of DSLR astrophotography for a few reasons. I had a chance to test out several copies of the D7000 over a period of 3+ months. Due to my busy schedule and very high demand on the camera, I was not able to obtain a copy earlier to test.

The D7000 uses the ISO value you set as long as the exposure time is shorter than the minimum shutter speed. The D7000 can vary the minimum shutter speed depending on the focal length. If the exposure time would become longer, the D7000 will automatically increase the ISO sensitivity up to the maximum value stored in the menu.
