wrotniak.net: Infrared Photography with the Olympus E-510

    http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/infrared/e510.html
The E-510 has one significant advantage in infrared photography: it allows for direct, electronic scene preview on the LCD monitor, something impossible on most digital SLRs (except for a few models by Olympus and the Canon EOS D1 Mk. III). This means that in order to take a picture in infrared it is no longer necessary to do the image ...

We test the E-510 for infrared photography performance with the Hoya R72 filter. The E-510 is a handy and compact camera. Also common to all the Olympus dSLRs we have tried, it actually has a Live View that works reasonably well in infrared (you just have to put it in Live View Boost mode from the menu).

The Olympus EP2 and Infrared Photography

    Olympus E-P2 . 1/500″ . ISO 250 – “Ethereal”. In 2019, I purchased an already converted 720nm Olympus EP2 with a 14 – 42 mm F/3.5 – 5.6 11 R lens plus a VF2 viewfinder. I read many glowing reviews on this marvellous, mirrorless, micro four-thirds camera, and it has revolutionised my infrared photography.

Samyang 7.5mm f/3.5 Fish-eye IR rating: 5. Conclusions. Here are my general findings of the Olympus lens infrared performance review: Hotspots tend to get smaller and more pronounced as you stop down the lens. With zoom lenses, IR lens issues are often more pronounced at the wide end of the zoom range.

The above image was taken with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the standard 12-50mm kit lens and a Hoya 52mm R72 Infrared filter attached. The filter blocks almost all visible light, and looks almost completely black: Here is the original image, taken without the filter attached – a fairly typical scene of a mountain refuge in the Pyrenees: Adding ...
