Using photo paper instead of film for pinhole photography

B&W paper is good for pinhole cameras if you have access to a darkroom. If you don't, as I'm assuming from the information in your posts, then you are probably better off using film and sending it out for processing and scanning. Cut a square hole, tape a square piece of tin foil over it and punch a hole in the center of the foil using a needle. You don’t want an aperture that is too small. The size of your aperture will determine how long it takes to expose your image. After you make your pinhole, cover it with a piece of electrical tape that you can remove later.

For pinhole images, you’ll typically need an exposure of 1-2 minutes in summer sun; 2-3 minutes in “cloudy bright” or hazy sunlight; 4-5 minutes on a day when there is a mixture of clouds and blue sky; 6-10 minutes on a dull or cloudy day; and maybe an hour in a normally lit interior. Use the shorter times for the pre-flashed paper.

The reason most pinhole photographers use film is because paper is slow. Think of it as ISO 1. And, a pinhole is just that, a pinhole. Think of it as an aperture set at ƒ256. Also, you will have a negative image on paper. Enlarging papers, and film, will have to be developed and fixed.

Why is photographic paper used in pinhole cameras?

    https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/why-is-photographic-paper-used-in-pinhole-cameras.464103/
Because many pinhole photographers prefer large format, paper does present some cost and handling advantages over large format film. And when you get past those, many "serious" pinhole users like the look of the pictures. It's roughly analagous to how some like to take pictures with limited cameras such as Holgas, etc. lachaine, May 28, 2012 #1

The Beginners Guide To Pinhole Photography

The concept is simple – it's photography without the lens. Picture this: a tight box with one super-tiny hole at one end, and photographic paper at the opposite end. The light streams through the pinhole and creates an image on film or photographic paper. Check out some great pinhole photos on the Lomography website!
