    This camera (in the pic) is a point-n-shoot Panasonic DMC-ZS8 ($286.89) and does have a night 'fireworks' mode and the shutter can be set for 15, 30 & 60 seconds. The optical 16x zoom isn't bad. I don't think it would take too much work to get some stackable pictures of Andromeda.. IF you have a tracking mount.

I really wanted the option of doing both visual and take a few photos as I went along. So I stuck the Fz300 to the top of my Celestron C8 on the Se mount and did both.
