    With today's high resolution digital sensors and sharp lenses like the Sigma 35 mm, if you want sharp stars, a 200 rule is needed. That means about 6 seconds exposure for good stars. At 6 seconds, the stars near the celestial equator move 90 arc-seconds, or about 3 pixels on a camera with 5-micron pixels and a 35 mm focal length lens.

    When zoomed in to 35mm, the f/2.8 aperture is not enough to compensate for the faster shutter speed (15 seconds) required by the longer focal length to prevent unwanted star trails. And that is where the 35mm Sigma shines with its f/1.4 aperture (read below for more info.)
