    From Mitch's Afterword, it appears he and a storm chasing friend would locate a developing storm and drive hundreds of miles all day watching it develop, mature, and age, taking photographs the whole time. Mitch says they would many times drive upwards of 7,000 to 9,000 miles in 10 days chasing the storms. The images prove it was worth the effort.
