    Let’s talk about a few other things to remember when photographing water polo. A very fast shutter speed is an important element. I like to crank up my shutter speed so that I can completely freeze those water droplets. A player who scoops up a ball and cocks back before firing on goal will create a fantastic rooster tail of water droplets.

    Water polo (polo) is an amazing sport to play and photograph. The key- as in all ports- is anticipation. I like to sit just to the right on one goal. That allows me to get the faces of players as they play both defense and offense. I can also get my fav shot- the goalie in focus with an attacking player with ball out of focus.

    On full frame, I’d shoot water polo at 70-200mm f/2.8 or 200mm f/2… I’d probably use 1/1600s or faster if I could. You can shoot sports on a Fuji, but faster glass would be ideal. What is your goal/intended output for this photography? What else do you shoot? I can’t recall if DXO PureRAW is available for X-trans sensors yet.
