The Milky Way’s black hole is significantly more difficult to capture in images due to how much its signal changes, and how rapidly those changes occur. Researchers with the EHT project still ...

Yeah it was actually an impossible task, but we humans are getting more and more advanced with the years. A team of MIT professors along with few students worked for many years to make it possible. Why was it impossible? B lack hole is something which has immense gravitation in it. Nothing can escape from it. Even light can’t escape from it.

Photographing a Black Hole | NASA

    https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/photographing-a-black-hole/
By its very nature, a black hole cannot be seen, but the hot disk of material that encircles it shines bright. Against a bright backdrop, such as this disk, a black hole appears to cast a shadow. This stunning image shows the shadow of the supermassive black hole in the center of Messier 87 (M87), an elliptical galaxy some 55 million light-years from Earth.

Q: Why was it so hard to take a picture of a black hole?

    https://www.askamathematician.com/2019/04/q-why-was-it-so-hard-to-take-a-picture-of-a-black-hole-what-are-we-even-looking-at/
The new black hole picture isn’t really a discovery, but it is a stunning accomplishment. Black holes, as we understand them today, were first theorized when Schwarzschild got ahold of the recently published equations of Einstein’s general theory of relativity, applied them to a dense sphere of matter, and followed where they led. Modern ...

Why can't we see black holes? - Physics Stack Exchange

    https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/234345/why-cant-we-see-black-holes
    1. Today, seeing an object is pretty much done by capturing the electromagnetic waves emitted or reflected by that thing and forming an image of that object. Black holes do not reflect or emit electromagnetic waves (except Hawking radiation which may be too small amount for seeing purpose). The reason for not reflecting and not emitting is that the enormous gravity of the …

The first image of a black hole is not a classical photograph. It is a radiolight image the result of complex observational and computational interpretation (deconvolution). Further, it is not of the black hole itself, but of the "shadow"—the closest we can come to imaging a completely dark object that consumes all light and matter. The black hole boundary—the …

M87: why the first black hole photo was so hard to …

    https://www.sciencefocus.com/space/m87-why-the-first-black-hole-photo-was-so-hard-to-capture/
The image of the black hole in M87, since named Powehi, shows detail smaller than the extent of its event horizon, the point of no return for in-falling light and matter. It is only possible to see such exquisite detail because the intense gravity of each black hole acts like a lens, which makes the image appear five times larger than its horizon.

We cannot photograph a black hole itself, but we can capture the gravitational lensing that happens around when light passes near to it. From that shape, we can predict mathematically what a black hole might look like.

How Do You Photograph a Black Hole? | Magazine | MoMA

    https://www.moma.org/magazine/articles/563
I made a film along the way (Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know), over four years, not knowing where it would end—the attempt by such a far-flung collaboration to image a farther-flung black hole seemed so audacious.Black holes, with their one-way horizons, are nothing like other objects. Launching jets of hot gas from the swirl around them, black holes …
