    1) It is fully mechanical. I'm not sure in what part of the globe you live, but if you add cold weather to long expsosures then you'll chew through batteries pretty fast. The battery in the OM-1 (and OM-3) only operates the the light meter, which is fairly useless for astrophotography. 2) The OM-1 has a dedicated mirror lock switch.
